If we could move the pay period from a 14day pay period to a 28day pay period, we would be able to keep not only the city open in april, but certainly in may and june. Then we run into the same problem, but 90 days for calm heads to come to the table for our elected officials, including myself, members of city council, to be the solution to this crisis. Reporter the White Collar Union says the quarterly tax collection due on may 1st would also help the city. But we did some digging and we found that more than 10 million in city expenses are also due to be paid in may. Among them the school board, city payrolls and a bond payment. Theyve joined similar employees around the area. We expect those workers to be back out on the picket lines this morning. Subcontracted employs, they first hit the picket lines at 9 00 last night. These are baggage handlers, custodians, cabin cleaners, wheel clair attendants. They say philadelphia is not following the new minimum wage and sick time loss. Were doing this because we have to. This is not something we want to. We would all rather be at work. We dont want to disturb anybody or cause any problems. Unfortunately our company is not following the law. Just out for a walk with his dog on thursday night this 51 year old shooting victim was found unconscious with his flashlight in one hand, his dogs leash in the other. Lake next to him was his dog. Not injured just seemed to be very scared, shaken. The deadly shooting happened here in the 6400 block of woodcrest avenue in the overbrook section of the city. Around 8 30, police were called to the scene after someone heard a gunshot. The victim, was found in the street and rushed to the hospital, shot once in the chest. He was pronounced dead short time later. Investigators say this is an unusual scene for overbrook. You are Walking Around this neighborhood relatively safe neighborhood, not much crime goes on in this particular area. And the outcome could have been worse. Mexican restaurant. Police are looking into the possibility there was a mechanical failure. Pittsburg police say just after 8 00 the driver tried to warn other drivers. Some sort of failure in the truck. The big rig carrying gravel slammed into two other cars before hitting the restaurant and causing an inferno. The driver stuck inside. I heard an explosion. I thought somebody had ran into my house. It was loud, but it wasnt her house. It turns out Dana Leatherwood was one block away from the boom. So i just beside myself thinking of the driver. Reporter the trucks driver died in the fire. Firefighters found him in the drivers seat. No one was in the restaurant at the time. Railroad avenue is expected to remain closed for most of the day while police investigate. In a caldecott tunnel this morning drivers had to be evacuated from one of the bores after the car caught fire. Chopper 5 was over head. You can see the smoke coming from the vents.
