While his cell mate was at a court appearance. It was friday, two weeks after the 69yearold was formally charged for the murder of his wife April Kauffman back in 2012. Four other people were also charged including members of the pagans motorcycle gang. Prosecutors say kauffman ran illegal pill mill from his Atlantic County offices with the pagans. They allege he hired a hit man to kill his wife when she threatened to expose him during divorce proceedings. Kauffman was first held in the Atlantic County jail but was moved to Hudson County due to what prosecutors caulder Credible Threats on his life. In a statement the Prosecutors Office says James Kauffman died in an apparent suicide on friday morning, january 26, 2018. The investigation is continuing and we will have no further at this time.
