ST. PETE BEACH â Experience serving as a member of the cityâs planning board since 2019 gave Mark Grill, a candidate vying to fill the city commission seat vacated by District 2 Commissioner Doug Izzo, the upper hand over another candidate, Rachel Ciliberti. Izzo recently resigned his post to become executive director of the Englewood Chamber of Commerce. City commissioners met on Jan. 26 to interview the two candidates, both retired after long careers at IBM. They sought to fill the commission seat until an Aug. 24 election can be held. That date will piggyback on elections scheduled in St. Petersburg and Seminole. Ciliberti, who moved to St. Pete Beach in November 2019, told commissioners she has ideas to foster more community involvement, such as starting a community garden and promoting a beach concert series. ....
Born in Buffalo, N.Y., July 18, 1942m the daughter of William and Dorothy ( Fisher) Grill. Donnette work as a pro-duce manager for Winn Dixie of Palm Harbor, she also at one time helped with childcare and elder care for families in need in the Palm Harbor area. She enjoyed baking, photography, beach walking and volunteered for many community events throughout Palm Harbor and surrounding areas. Donnette was a cancer sur-vivor . Survivors include three children: Marie Killock of Gowanda, N.Y., Kenneth (Lynette) Slocum of Go-wanda, N.Y., and Brian Slocum of Clearwater, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and seven (soon to be eight) great-grandchildren also survive. Donnette is also survived by three brothers: William Grill Jr. of Jack-sonville, Fla., Henry (Sheri) Grill of Indian Shore, Fla., and Mark Grill of Gowanda, N.Y.; sister in-law, Grace Grill of Tal-ladaga, Ala. and Jim Chrza-nowski of Palm Harbor, Fla.; along with several nieces and nephews . ....
