Pitching, hitting of Michele Tarpey leads Fuquay past South View 11-1 Updated: 2021-05-06 10:26:28 Tags: By Joel Bryant, HighSchoolOT reporter Hope Mills, N.C. Fuquay-Varina defeated South View in the second round of the 2021 NCHSAA 4A softball playoffs thanks to a big pitching and offensive performance by Michele Tarpey. The senior is committed to play softball at NC State. Tarpey pitched 12 strikeouts, allowed no hits, and had four runs batted in offensively. She hit a solo home run, a triple, and a double. The Bengals won 11-1 in five innings. The game ended due to the Ten Run Rule. Fuquay only had seven hits on the night. The Bengals were able to capitalize on some South View errors and a couple of wild pitches.
