Jeff Vorva Times correspondent When it comes to judging the success of Homer Glenâs HomerFest, co-chairman Chris Locacius looks for two things. âThe best part is seeing kids come in with smiles on their faces and seeing them leave with smiles on their faces,â he said. âThatâs the best thing that I pick up from the fest, and it makes me want to come back and volunteer. I love watching the reactions on the familiesâ faces. That makes it all worthwhile.â He and co-chairman Carlo Caprio are hoping to see bigger smiles in the 2021 version of the fest. They want a bigger and better HomerFest because the 2020 version was canceled by coronavirus concerns and because 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the town s incorporation. ....
Homer Township, its public officials, and its residents filed suit today in Will County Circuit Court seeking a court order prohibiting the unlawful distribution of Homer Township Road District personal property and the unlawful jurisdictional transfer of Road District highways, all to the Village of Homer Glen. The Village of Homer Glen, after the referendum to dissolve the Road District failed, announced it was seizing the Township Road District s property and transferring highway jurisdiction to the Village. After the current Road Commissioner, Mike De Vivo, attended a political caucus, and did not get slated, it is alleged that Vivo and the village decided to fast-track the seizure of the road district property to effectuate its transfer prior to the spring election, leaving the new, incoming road commissioner with no equipment with which to perform his duties. ....
