Fukushima power plant. also today, officials at the plant announced that two workers died in the march 11th tsunami. let s go live to tokyo and nbc s lee cowan. with a good sunday morning to you, lee, what s the status on the crews, first of all, stopping that radioactive water from gushing into the ocean? reporter: well, not good, alex. they ve been trying really for the last 24 hours feverishly to figure out a way to stop it. they first tried pouring concrete into that pit that you saw. that didn t work because it was too wet. the concrete really didn t do anything. the next option was to try and take chemical polymers and mix them even with very absorbant materials like saw dust and old newspaper. what they were hoping to do was get that into some of the pipes to clog up the pipes so no more water would get into that leaking vessel. that didn t seem to work, either. so, it looks like it s back to the drawing board tomorrow morning as they try to figure out how to stop it. the prob ....
