Supreme Court Sets Date for Judge Morgan's Appeal Against JIC'S Findings Hearing


As some Supreme Court lawyers back off 
The argument as to whether the Judiciary Inquiry Commission’s (JIC) recommendation for the Supreme Court to suspend Judge Eva Mappy Morgan for a year without pay and benefits is taking a dramatic turn as some of the lawyers appointed to represent the high court have declined the appointment.
The argument has been scheduled for hearing on Thursday, May 27, at 11am.
The JIC, the Supreme Court’s disciplinary commission for judges,  after eight months of Investigation on Wednesday, April 7 said, Judge “Eva Mappy Morgan, respondent, recklessly abused her discretion when she illegally ordered the President of the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI) to unfreeze the accounts of Ducor Petroleum Inc.”  ....

Judge Morgan was recently found guilty of breaching judicial ethics by the Judiciary Inquiry Commission (JIC) for wrongly handling the case involving Ducor Petroleum and unfreezing the account without the consent of all parties.
Monrovia – Amos Brosuis, the owner of Ducor Petroleum which from which Commercial Court Judge Eva Mappy-Morgan illegally authorized the withdrawal of US$3 million when the court had frozen the account, has requested Chief Justice Francis Korkpor to have the Judge Morgan restitute the amount. ....

Commercial Court Judge Suspended for One Year


-Held liable for illegal transfer of over US$1 million
Days after the US State Department released its 2020 Human Rights Report on Liberia implicating judges and magistrates of the Judiciary Branch of the Government of bribery, the Chief Judge of the Commercial Court has been found guilty of withdrawing over US$1 million illegally.  The Judicial Inquiry Commission that investigated Judge Eva Mappy Morgan and found her liable has therefore recommended a year suspension for her without pay and benefits.
