The blaze began six days ago in Fort Mcmurray, in the canadian province of alberta, 200 miles north of edmonton. Albertas premier said today the fire is out of control, but no other community lies in its path. 500 firefighters are working to contain a fire fanned by high winds and feeding on dry forest. As the president said yesterday, we salute our brave veterans and recall the sacrifices they made for our freedom and for our nations strength. Some 9 million americans served in those jungles. And more than 58,000 fell in defense of freedom. Their names now enshrined on a black granite wall not far from here. So to all our Vietnam Veterans who are gathered here in the midst of this 50th anniversary, i say thank you and welcome home.
