City Approves Agreement With Aquilla Water Supply
The Hillsboro City Council met in a regular session Tuesday, February 2, and approved a settlement agreement with the Aquilla Water Supply District (AWSD) to address concerns that the two entities have been working to resolve for several years.
The city and AWSD initially entered into a contract in October 1981, and the two parties have been negotiating the settlement of certain disputes for several years.
The new agreement establishes clear points of delivery of water to the city, resolves concerns about taps made on AWSD s transmission lines to serve city customers, sets up payment by AWSD to the city for use of city facilities to deliver water to other customers, and eliminates a notation on city water bills regarding the cost of AWSD water. ....

City Council Approves Renewal Of Tourism Agreement With Chamber
The Hillsboro City Council met in a regular session Tuesday, January 19, and renewed a tourism agreement between the city and the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce.
The city and chamber first entered into the agreement in 2009. It allows the chamber to manage collections paid to the city from Hotel Occupancy Taxes for the purpose of promoting tourism, meetings, conventions, the arts and historic preservation efforts. The overall goal is to increase tourism and hotel occupancy in the city.
The council’s action will extend the agreement through September 30 of this year. ....

City Seeking Applicants For Place 5 City Council Position
The Hillsboro City Council met in a regular session Tuesday, December 15, and accepted the resignation of council member Dr. David Skelton, who has served the council in place 5 since May 2017.
Dr. Skelton said that he made the decision to resign from the council to avoid a potential conflict of interest. City officials reported that Skelton s daughter has applied for the city manager s position, and the resignation was necessary to allow the council to consider her application.
I have enjoyed my three and a half years on the council, Dr. Skelton said, but all good things come to an end. ....
