The Election Commission has been making a slew of transfers as the West Bengal voted The Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred a few police officers as West Bengal voted in the seventh phase of Assembly polls on April 26, officials said.

The CBI and the ED are probing Trinamool Youth Congress leader Vinay Mishra in connection with cases related to cattle smuggling and illegal coal mining Asserting that those involved in stealing funds meant for the people of West Bengal will be put behind bars, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on April 19 claimed that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is speaking in different voices on the party’s youth leader Vinay Mishra, who is being investigated by the CBI and the ED.
The two Central agencies are probing Mr. Mishra in connection with cases related to cattle smuggling and illegal coal mining.

The Left leader mentioned that his party had earlier announced that it would not hold large public rallies in the poll-bound West Bengal The CPI(M) on April 18 hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for continuing to campaign in the West Bengal Assembly polls despite the surge in COVID-19 cases, alleging that he is demonstrating his role as a “partisan party campaigner” and not that of the country’s PM.
“As we Indians suffer under a raging pandemic, we unfortunately don’t have a Union government. What we have is a PR company, with an electoral campaigner, callously and brazenly unleashing pain, misery and devastation over the masses.

Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal, Aariz Aftab, on Wednesday wrote to all recognised national political parties to participate in a meeting on April 16 on matters related to election campaign during the COVID-19 outbreak.
