Nursing home Caregivers in Wynnewood join statewide pickets to demand better staffing and reform

LOWER MERION On Tuesday, May 25, thousands of nursing home workers at 41 facilities across Pennsylvania, including those in Wynnewood, rallied to demand better staffing and other improvements to the nursing home industry that will save lives.
“Short staffing not only hurts us, it hurts the people we’re responsible for and care for our residents deserve better,” said Tisheia Frazier, a CNA at Saunders House in Wynnewood. “And offering us hotdogs and candy is not a way to improve working conditions, it s an insult. PA ranks as one of the worst states for COVID nursing home deaths, having lost over 13,000 residents since the pandemic began. ....

Radnor votes down Raider nickname – again

RADNOR The Raider nickname won’t be coming back to Radnor.
After voting to ditch its long-time Raider nickname last September and weeks after the administration said it would not consider using it as an option, the school board this week once again rejected any consideration of using the Raider nickname.

The controversy is due to links between the name Raider and Native American imagery that has developed over the past several decades. For the first few decades the school used the Raider nickname, there was no connection with Native American imagery. ....
