Maharashtra: Covid-19 report negative mandatory for train passengers to gain entry 
Maharashtra has declared six states Delhi NCR, Kerala, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand as places of sensitive origin. The state government has also made it mandatory for all passengers coming from these states to produce a Covid-19 negative report to gain entry into the state.
Passengers travelling to Maharashtra from the six states declared as the places of sensitive origin will need a RT-PCR negative test within 48 hours of their train travel, an order signed by Maharashtra chief secretary Sitaram Kunte  said.
The western state is currently struggling to contain the huge Covid-19 surge. The decision was taken as a part of state government s measures to curb the transmission of virus and stop the influx of other virus variants from other locations. ....

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 19 (ANI): Maharashtra vaccinated 1,27,079 people in the last 24 hours against the COVID-19 in 1,515 sessions, informed the Maharashtra Health Department on Monday.
With this, the total number of people vaccinated in the state touched 1,22,83,050.
As per state government data, these include 10,67,486 HCWs who have taken the 1st dose and 5,42,627 HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose, 11,13,691 FLWs (1st dose), 3,67,965 FLWs (2nd dose), 87,86,940 first dose beneficiaries and 4,04,341 second dose beneficiaries of more than 45 years old.
To prevent the COVID-19 surge in the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday imposed Section 144 starting from April 14. ....

New Delhi: A record single-day rise of 2,61,500 coronavirus infections has taken India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases to 1,47,88,109, while active cases have surpassed the 18-lakh mark, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
The death toll increased to 1,77,150 with a record 1,501 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.
Registering a steady increase for the 39th day in a row, the active cases stand at 18,01,316, comprising 12.18?per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has dropped to 86.62 per cent, the ministry said ....

Mumbai: Amid a sharp rise in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in Maharashtra, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said a complete lockdown should be imposed in the city.
Stating that those returning from the Kumbh will distribute ‘Corona ka prasad’ wherever they go, she expressed the need for quarantining them to curb the spread of infections.
Speaking to ANI here today, Pednekar said, “The Chief Minister should call a meeting, discuss and impose a lockdown. I think a complete lockdown should be imposed looking at the current COVID-19 situation.” ....
