The Hazleton Police Department, in coordination with the West Hazleton Police Department, arrested one man and two juveniles during a traffic stop near the intersection of North James and West
A man led police on a high-speed chase from Wilkes-Barre to Newport Twp. before he crashed his car and a police dog subdued him as he fled on foot, according to city police.
John L. Derhammer, 47, of Wilkes-Barre, is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, DUI and harassment.
The incident began with a dispute at a Park Avenue home on Saturday afternoon, according to an affidavit filed by Wilkes-Barre police.
According to the affidavit:
Two women at the residence told officers that Derhammer barged his way into the home, assaulted both women and damaged furniture during an argument.
