Brookline first-graders returned to full-time, in-person instruction Monday, with grades 2 through 5 potentially set to follow suit by the end of the month.

Preparing for full classrooms five days a week presents new challenges for teachers, including potentially reducing social distancing parameters from 6 feet to for grades 2 and up. The Public Schools of Brookline is required to negotiate these changes with the Brookline Educators Union, and district officials provided evidence in support of this reduction in a Feb. 19 report.
