MSNBC NOW With Alex Wagner September 30, 2013

See how that works . Morning joe, Chuck Schumer was unimpressed. They are compromise because they are not eliminating it but delaying. Were compromising, instead of chopping off one arm, well chop off both arms. Arent we great. All eyes on Speaker Boehner. In two hours they will reconvene, once again strip out obama care language and send boehner another clean spending bill. The man with the greatest power to avoid a Government Shutdown by putting a clean cr on the floor and letting it pass also has the most to lose by doing so. This morning the beleaguered speaker took to the floor to urge the senate to pass the house bill. The American People are worried about their job. They are worried about their incomes rising because they are all under pressure. Worried ....

One faction of one party in one house of congress in one branch of government doesnt get to shut down the entire government just to refight results of an election. Keeping the peoples government open is not a concession to me. Keeping Vital Services running and hundreds of thousands of americans on the job is not something you give to the other side. Its our basic responsibility. You dont get to extract a ransom for doing your job. For doing what youre supposed to be doing anyway. Or just because theres a law there that you dont like. Affordable care act is moving forward. That funding is already in place. You cant shut it down. Republicans cant shut it down. Its the law of the land. So lets be clear about whats happening. Every Year Congress has to pass a budget to fund the government, to keep it running. But republicans dont care about that. Theyre more focused on scoring po ....

Aimed at funding only certain parts of the government. We have sent over four proposals and they have rejected all of them. We sat down to resolve the differences, they will not negotiate. I would hope that the democrat and my democratic colleagues in the senate would listen to the American People and sit down and have a serious discussion about resolving these differences. I went through a little litany of things we would be able to talk about, or anything he wanted to talk about. We said well be happy to talk about discretionary spending, well talk about agriculture, health care, parks, well talk about anything that you want to talk about. And he says no. All i want to do is go to conference on a shortterm cr. We have a debt ceiling staring us in the face. And we wants to talk about a shortterm cr . Senate democrats have indicated a number of times those proposals from the house, the continuing resolution to fund little slivers ....

While Senate Majority leader harry reid said they will not budge on any funding overtures aimed at funding only certain parts of the government. Bully pulpit to say once more we will not negotiate. Let me repeat, nobody gets to hurt our economy and millions of hard working families over a law you dont like. As the president stands firm, republicans continue to turn on each other. Theres so much opposition to that policy, its madness, going absolutely nowhere. I think what were going to do is play out the strategy that i would call thats kind of an oxymoron because its really not a strategy. With the gop in disarray, the rightwing media is working overtime to spin a Government Shutdown. 800,000 federal workers furloughed, okay . Most people wont know that. This is a pinprick. It is not the end of the world. People are probably going to realize they can live with a lot less government. Maybe im just one of the few people, im just not this doesnt impact me mentally. Weve had 17 Government Shutdowns. Look at thi ....
