HANOVER, Va. (WWBT) - A Hanover County high school senior is determined to make it across the stage to receive her diploma after a serious car crash.
On April 18th, family says 18-year-old Mackenzie Greene was driving home and lost control of her car, approaching a curve in the road. The Hanover County Sheriffâs Office says on Beaverdam Road she collided with several trees.
Greeneâs sisters say she crashed into a ravine, and found the strength to climb back up to the road. A couple eventually stopped to help her.
Orlando police officers are being hailed as heroes after helping rescue people trapped inside a submerged car.In the body camera video, one officer asks a young boy his name. He responds that it’s Gabriel.“Gabriel, I need you to come to me. The fire department is going to get your brother and dad, OK?” the officer can be heard saying.“Please just help them,” Gabriel says back.The car landed upside down in a retention pond at Lee Vista Boulevard and Vista East Parkway shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 with a father and his two young sons inside.Gabriel tells Officer Mackenzie Greene that his four-year-old brother is still in the car, as well as his father. A good Samaritan kept the 4-year-old s head above water, while Orlando Police Department officers and Orlando Fire Dive Team performed rescue efforts.
