Fifth floor where crews have had their ladders up inside of this Apartment Building at 1893 morris avenue. It appears the flames began in one apartment quickly spread to other units forcing hundreds of residents to evacuate. We saw some of them being treated by ems here on the scene with oxygen masks for smoke inhalation and there are four overall injuries two of them minor two serious. All of them civilans. We spoke with some of the people forced outside of their homes. I smelled it and i could hear the commotion. And then what happened . I got my family out. When i came out i saw all of the flames. Now again firefighters telling us four injuries, four civilan injuries here at the scene two of them serious and the other two minor. It appears they are starting to wrap up the scene and have since pulled their ladders out are told is about under control at this hour but of course we will continue monitoring the situation for you ....
We are waiting to find out if power has been restored to the terminal and if trains will be running on time today after going completely dark yesterday. The lights back on in Grand Centrals upper level overnight as police blocked access to the lower level which was still without lights after a rarity for the historic station. Lights are out. Atm, ticket machines. Everything out. A partial power outage as an off site pipe six inches in diameter flooded a transformer around 9 30 monday morning. Lower level train tracks restaurants bathrooms and shops all closed as a result. Ive never seen it except for the black out night in 2003. Continuing upper level and the more than 60 retailers the outage meant a loss in business and spoiled food. A good amount of product especially for all of the other businesses on the market too. They got here at some point, shots were fired from those suspects. Its not clear whether they were trying to the fire at police. But police drew their weapon, returning fire and it appears at least one suspect was shot. One suspect was arrested soon after.
