New restaurant Jinny's Pizzeria opens in Newton Centre


The pizzeria is located on the same block as one of its sister restaurants, Little Big Diner.
“It is really nice to be so close. We’re kind of a family in that regard,” she said. “We’ve all worked together.”
Dave Punch and Shane Smyth co-own those two restaurants plus sycamore.[sic], also in Newton Centre, and Buttonwood in Newton Highlands. Jinny’s is the first eatery that Reichert has co-owned.
Punch and Smyth hired Reichert in 2012 to work at sycamore., but she has been a chef since finishing high school.
Asked how she felt about opening the pizzeria during the COVID pandemic, Reichert said, “It’s nerve-wracking of course … you’re always nervous to open a restaurant anyway.” ....

After a long, hard winter and fall (and
year) for restaurants, the sure signs of spring are beginning to appear: new openings, along with post-hibernation reopenings, and retooling at places long on the scene. (Uni has a taco truck! Café du Pays is now Vincent’s!) We are still in the middle of a pandemic, and masks, vaccines, fresh air, and small, careful in-group gatherings remain the order of the day. But it feels hopeful.
