Dec 16, 2020 HANCOCK In a Tuesday afternoon email, Superintendent Steve Patchin said there were three items in the Food Service Department of which parents and students should be aware: ⢠Children who are participating at school in The Free Breakfast and Lunch Meals are now being offered meal pick-up for Saturdays and Sundays. ⢠Children who are participating in virtual learning, homeschooling, or too young to go to school, are offered The Free Breakfast and Lunch Meals seven days a week. ⢠The school is offering meal pickup for all children 18 and under during the Winter Break on Monday, Dec. 22 and 29. 250,000 lunch meals. we ve only received $50,000 from the state. if the doors were to close, many of these students would go hungry because this essentially when they come to school, this may be their only meals. so we are in a situation where the district has made a decision to attempt to borrow $30 million. which, by and large, which cost the district $140,000. that s the salary of two teachers. so this situation is really gone out of control. and this is basically a political fight, right. i guess i just feel like you elect your legislatures, you elect your governor. one is from the democratic side, one from the republican side. but the idea that kids, you know, they don t have a party, they don t have a set of ideologies. shouldn t they be at the forefront of these decisions? ....
