Limerick students enjoy success at BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2021 Reporter: david.hurley@limerickleader.ie Taha Njie and Sean O’Sullivan from Colaiste Chiarain, Croom with their project ‘Shining a Light on School Coronavirus Cleaning Protocols’ | PICTURE: Chris Bellew /Fennell Photography );   ); SEVERAL Limerick students enjoyed success at the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2021 Awards Ceremony, which took place virtually because of Covid-19. A total of 16 awards were presented to students from Limerick schools for their impressive projects entered in this year’s exhibition which concluded yesterday afternoon. One of the Limerick award winners was Keelin Murphy from Laurel Hill Secondary School FCJ who was awarded the Fr Tom Burke Bursary Award after she was deemed, by the judges, to be the best communicator.

BTYSE: Perfect 10 entries by Desmond College students Reporter: );   ); DESMOND College in Newcastle West has a whopping 10 entries in this year’s BT Young Scientist Exhibition. Teacher and young Scientist co-ordinator Donal Enright breaks down the 10 projects. There are 16 students involved – 13 girls and 3 boys – in five individual and five group projects. Five junior, four intermediate and one senior project. Seven in technology, two in mathematical, and one each in physical, chemical and biological categories. Emma O Shea and Rebecca Enright have already hit the headlines with their polarised, anti-bacterial face shield, for use with hurling helmets. Emma and Rebecca were aided in the testing of their product by one Gearoid Hegarty.
