Holiday Sharing 2020 For Dec. 24


Even though the holiday season is going to be different this year, there are still plenty of ways to get in the Christmas spirit by helping others in Long Beach.
Las Damas de la Plaza, part of the Community Hospital of Long Beach Foundation, solicited and donated toys for the LB Firefighters Annual Spark of Love Toy Drive. Unwrapped toys, bikes and other children s-oriented gifts were donated by the supporters of Las Damas and the CHLB Foundation.
Long Beach Branch NAACP partners and supporters collected $20 gift-cards to give to needy LBUSD children this holiday season. In addition to helping the school district, toys donated by the ABC7 Spark of Love Toy Drive, LB Fire Department and Long Beach Branch NAACP Members and Supporters, toys and gift cards were also disseminated to the homeless, churches, to children that sent in their wish-list to Santa. ....

California twins pass out candy canes at neighborhood light display, collect donations for Toys for Tots

The Los Angeles County Fire Department, with assistance from KABC-TV, Toys for Tots, and Southern California firefighters, is hosting its 28th annual Spark of Love Toy Drive online this year due to the pandemic. That means Troy and Cheyenne will use the money they collect to purchase gifts through an online registry. 
The siblings have raised about $2,200 so far this year – compared to their $2,000 total last season. Mike Valvo said his children took a break this week for a family vacation but will collect money again Monday and Tuesday – stopping in time before Christmas Eve to register for gifts. On average, he said the twins can collect about $200-250 a night.  ....

Channel Islands Harbor Holiday Food & Toy Drive collects record number of items for local families

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - Ventura County families in need will receive much-needed food and toys this holiday season.
The Holiday Food & Toy Drive took place on Saturday, December 12 at Fisherman’s Wharf in the Channel Island Harbor.
The Ventura County Harbor Department and the Harbor & Beach Community Alliance teamed up to host the the event.
An estimated 2,200 toys were collected to benefit the Spark of Love Toy Drive and 5,000 lbs of non-perishable food and money donations of nearly $14,000 were given to benefit the Food Share of Ventura County.
The money donations alone will provide over 41,000 meals. ....
