Reply Lorain County Jail passed its state inspection this month. (Shutterstock) ELYRIA, OH The Lorain County jail was deemed completely compliant with state standards, the sheriffs announced. Lorain County Jail can house up to 422 inmates and is considered a full-service jail. The facility was inspected by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC). Inspectors looked at the following parts of the jail: reception and release, security, house, classification, sanitation and environmental standards, communication, visitation, medical and mental health, and more. Despite 2020 being a very challenging year for everyone, particularly the jail who had to adapt to the ever-increasing demands placed on corrections during the COVID crisis, I am pleased with the results, said Lorain County Sheriff Phil Stammitti.
