LONDON, ONT. More than half of the principals across Ontario, from all school boards, are reporting levels of stress that are not manageable, according to a new survey. The survey, conducted by People for Education asked principals across the province and all teaching models (in person, hybrid and virtual) how they were dealing with stress during the pandemic. Annie Kidder, the executive director for People for Education says they survey educators every year, but this year they wanted to specifically find out how administrators were faring. “How they were doing? How they ranked the major issues or challenges they were dealing with.”

As we know, in school learning begins next week for the London District Catholic School board with elementary students returning today and secondary students on Thursday to coincide with the start of Quadmester Three. Changes for students and families include all of the safety protocols in place since the fall will continue. In addition, the Ministry of Education is now requiring Elementary students to have mandatory masks indoors for students in Grades 1-8. Masking outdoors is highly recommended and mandatory when physical distancing is not possible. Masking for children in JK and SK continues to be recommended. At the secondary level students must confirm COVID-19 self-screening daily upon their arrival at school and to attend in-person classes only on your cohort days (A or B).
