At walmart. I remember thinking, im a desperate author but not quite that desperate. It turned out it was a fraudulent charge and had nothing to do with my book, though you think about it, if someone had stolen my credit card to buy my book that might have been the perfect crime. But for me personally, the most interesting aspect of this episode is that my wife noticed the fraudulent charge immediately. And its because she monitors our credit card like a hawk. I never would have noticed this charge. If i had it would have been months and months later. She noticed it almost in real time. Several months ago i was out of touch for a while, i came home, and my wife said, i hadnt heard from you for hours, but i wasnt worried because i knew you were at the bar watching the hockey game. Literally every beer i was buying coming up on the screen, and i know some of you are worried about the nsa creating a 24hour surveillance state, dont worry, ive been married 2 1 2 years, you get used to it. Men’s morning coffee at Kickapoo Creek Park

When I got the idea to interview the men’s morning coffee group at Kickapoo Creek Park, I wasn’t sure what I’d be stepping into. But when I passed it by Joe Funk, the park ranger, he thought it was a great idea.
I went for it and showed up at 8 AM one morning with pen and notepad. Gathered around the table inside the office building was Marvin Bartman, Don Hellman, Jerry Pagel, Dick Simmons, and Donnie Wolpert, as well as Joe Funk pretty much the regular group.
