When I got the idea to interview the men’s morning coffee group at Kickapoo Creek Park, I wasn’t sure what I’d be stepping into. But when I passed it by Joe Funk, the park ranger, he thought it was a great idea.
I went for it and showed up at 8 AM one morning with pen and notepad. Gathered around the table inside the office building was Marvin Bartman, Don Hellman, Jerry Pagel, Dick Simmons, and Donnie Wolpert, as well as Joe Funk—pretty much the regular group.
