Sangtams in Dimapur, Mokokchung celebrate Mongmong festival

Our Reporter/CorrespondentDimapur/Mokokchung, Sep. 3 (EMN): Kiphire Area Sangtam Union Dimapur (KASUD) celebrated ‘Mongmong,’ a premier festival of the Sangtam Naga hosted by NPSC secretary, John Tsulise Sangtam, at his residence in Kikhrürüzha colony, Chümoukedima, on September 3. Delivering the welcome address, the NPSC secretary thanked the union for allowing him to host the festival and welcomed all the participants and individuals especially to those who have come from Kiphire district to be part of the event. Speaking on the significance of Mongmong festival, T Setsathong informed that Sangtams have about twelve festivals spread over the calendar year and Mongmong is one of the most important festivals. According to Setsathong, Mongmong festival, which means togetherness forever, is religiously observed every year for six days. Nagaland University organises national seminar on yoga

Dimapur, June 27 (EMN): Nagaland University (NU), Lumami campus, organised a one-day national seminar on yoga on June 20 on the theme “Yoga and human well-being: Emerging perspectives”. The seminar was sponsored by Inter-University Centre for Yogic Sciences (IUCYS), Bengaluru. An update from the university stated that the keynote at the inaugural session was delivered by Prof. Pardeshi Lal, vice chancellor of Nagaland University. In his speech, Prof. Lal dwelt on the functioning of the human brain and how the yogic discipline and practice could help in stimulating better mental functioning, neural system, brain parts and overall intellectual capabilities. In his opening remarks, the chairperson of the organising committee and dean of Social Sciences, Prof. MK Sinha, contextualised the recent engagement with yoga beyond physical exercise and as a cultural lifestyle.
