The same line of showers and thunderstorms moving off to the north approaching palo alto around 11 37 and moving northward as we continue to see these intents bands of showers rotating onshore. Youve been watching the Lightning Detection Network around this compact area of low pressure. As this moves ashore, this will increase our odds of seeing thunderstorms at times today. So not widespread rain but scattered showers. Some of that could be pretty intense between now and sunday at 6 00. Chains are required tonight along parts of i80. A lot of drivers were caught off guard. We just couldnt believe it that the traffic came to a standstill. All the runways at la guardia in new york city are back open again this morning following a serious accident involving a Southwest Airlines jet flying in from investment.
