Mark Stephen Abbott

Saturday, April 17, 2021 11:11 pm The Rev. Mark Stephen Abbott, 61, of Cleveland, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, following a brief illness.  Born in Seaford, Del., he was called to the ministry as a teenager and became an ordained bishop in the Church of God and an evangelist in his native Delmarva-D.C. region.    He served as pastor of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor Church from 1981-1986 and the Milwaukee Metro Church of God from 1986-1990.  At 27, he was appointed state director of Youth and Christian Education for the Church of God in Wisconsin/Upper Michigan, a position he also held in the Pacific Northwest, South Georgia, and Alabama regions, before being elected to the assistant director of Youth and Christian Education in 2000 and the director’s role in 2004.  Other leadership roles include state overseer for Indiana as well as state evangelism director in the various regions in which he served.
