Wicked Local In some years, there s a scramble for the seats opening up on the town boards charged with handling the most complex issues. In other years, it can initially appear that a seat will go begging. This year a particularly tough one because of the pandemic and its impact on the local economy and people s lives there s a candidate for every vacancy, and in three cases, more than one. The election is March 2. The Townsman sent questionnaires to those who are not facing opposition, and those who are in a race. For the Housing Authority, there are three candidates running for two five-year openings. (One candidate is unopposed for a one-year term.) ....
Leda Eizenberg Background and experience A proud graduate of Wellesley Public Schools, I was so inspired by my teachers that I became one. I taught English in Hingham to sophomores with high-support needs, as well as AP Literature and Composition to 12th graders. I wrote districtwide curriculum, mentored new teachers, developed antiracist initiatives, and was a founding member of the Instructional Support Intervention Team, which developed cross-curricular plans for struggling students. Now I’m the parent of elementary-aged children, one of whom receives special education services, and I would like to bring these perspectives to the committee, along with knowledge gleaned from volunteering in town. I’ve served on Town Meeting since 2017. I’m on the board of World of Wellesley and co-chair the Antiracism Action Committee with WHS student-leaders. I’m also co-president of the Upham PTO, the Upham representative to the Parent Advisory Council, and a board membe ....
