At a game last week, Wakefield-Marenisco Cardinals varsity forward Matt Montienoticed a player on the Dollar Blue Bay Bolts team was playing in shoes that aren’t meant for basketball. Knowing the importance of proper high-top footwear, after the game, the teen gave the other player his own shoes, a pair of LeBron JamesNikes. “I just remember being young and not being able to afford nicer shoes for basketball and I know how bad it sucked,” Montie says. “Basketball shoes are a necessity.
