(TNN) - Today is the start of a new chapter for some City of Lawton employees as they start work in the newly finished Public Safety Facility. Lawton City Manager, Michael Cleghorn, said the departments that will operate out of the building include the Lawton Police Department, Fire Station 1, City Jail and Municipal Courts. He said most department employees have already moved in but some will do so this week and that everyone, except for jail employees, are expected to be fully relocated by May 14th when the city will host a grand opening of the facility for residents. That grand opening will take place from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and Cleghorn said masks must be worn to attend. ....

(TNN) - A man was arrested in Lawton Tuesday after being accused of domestic abuse. The police report says that Corey Schexnayder was wearing black rubber gloves and pointing a gun at a woman. The police report says he pulled the victim by the hair into a yard and then began repeatedly punching her on the face and head. The victim was able to escape and make it to safety. Schexnayder fled and police say they later found him. He was arrested and taken to the Lawton Jail for booking. During booking, a baggie of pills was reportedly found in Schexnayder’s pocket. Police say the pills appeared to officer’s to be Xanax. ....
