Johnson & Johnson is moving forward with a proposed settlement of tens of thousands of lawsuits alleging its baby powder and other talc products cause ovarian cancer.
Johnson & Johnson on Wednesday said it plans to pay $6.5 billion over 25 years to settle nearly all of the thousands of lawsuits in the U.S. claiming its talc-based products caused ovarian cancer, pending approval of the claimants.
Roderick Jackson sued the retailer earlier this year over a “false pretense of shoplifting” and because he claims to have “suffered civil rights violations based on race/color.”
