Ill bottlenose dolphin dies during rehabilitation in Panama City Beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH  A 415-pound female bottlenose dolphin being rehabilitated at Gulf World Marine Institute has died.
According to a press release from the institute, her death was sudden and occurred Wednesday night, despite the rehabilitation and veterinary team s best efforts.
The dolphin was found stranded on the coast of Indian Pass on Tuesday. Past reports state that passers-by, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the United States Geological Survey stabilized the animal until GWMI officials arrived. 
As with all stranded animals, something is wrong with them, it s just a matter of the time it takes to figure out what s going on, said Lauren Albrittain, stranding coordinator for the institute. We knew going into it that she had . some kind of illness or condition, we jus ....

PANAMA CITY BEACH A Florida nonprofit is helping rehabilitate more endangered, cold-stunned sea turtles from New England than almost anywhere else.
As of Tuesday, Gulf World Marine Institute was nursing 63 Kemp s ridley sea turtles that were cold stunned a condition similar to hypothermia while swimming in the frigid water of the Atlantic Ocean. 
Lauren Albrittain, stranding coordinator for the institute, said it feels awesome for her group to have the responsibility of helping preserve a natural habitat one she described as being a top contender in the food chain. As the rarest species of sea turtles, Kemp s ridleys are native to the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic. ....
