LOS ANGELES, CA Workplace coronavirus outbreaks are skyrocketing across Los Angeles as COVID-19 ravages the community, Los Angeles County health officials announced Wednesday. Health officials also hinted at stricter control measures while bracing for the more contagious variant of COVID-19 to take hold locally.
The prevalence of COVID-19 in the community has led to the quadrupling of workplace outbreaks at warehouses, manufacturing facilities and logistics companies and a tripling of outbreaks among schools and daycares across Los Angeles County. The Arlington legislative delegation joined its colleagues in passing legislation that overhauls the state s climate laws, aims to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, hopes to create clean-energy jobs and strives to promote environmental justice in communities.
Voting to back the measure were Sen. Cindy F. Friedman (D-Arlington), Reps. Dave Rogers (D-Cambridge) and Sean Garballey (D-Arlington).

The Powerball lottery jackpot has grown to more than half-a-billion dollars $550 million for the player who has the winning ticket on Wednesday, Jan. 13. The one-time cash payout for tonight s Powerball drawing is $411.4 million, lottery officials said.
The winning Powerball numbers are drawn every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time, with Powerball results usually posted within 5 minutes.
Ticket sales end at least one hour before the drawing in most states, but a state may halt sales earlier, such as Illinois, which stops sales three hours before the drawing. In Maryland and New Jersey, ticket sales end at 9:59 p.m.; in Virginia, they close at 10 p.m. Check with your state lottery for the cut-off time.
