Boys & Girls Club invites public to tour new ‘clubhouse’ on Muskegon Lake

MUSKEGON, MI – Now that the former Lakeshore Fitness Center on Muskegon Lake officially belongs to the Boys & Girls Club, the public is invited inside to tour it.
On Tuesday, May 11, the Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore, officially closed on the property, 900 W. Western Ave., according to a press release from the club. The property was owned by a Muskegon Community College and operated as a fitness club until it closed last year.
A new clubhouse is planned at the 60,000-square-foot building following a $5 million fundraising campaign that will help pay for renovations. The site includes a pool, gym and waterfront access to Muskegon Lake.

MUSKEGON, MI – The Boys and Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore has revealed itself as the anonymous buyer of the Lakeshore Fitness Center, seeking to renovate and use the facility as its youth and teen clubhouse.
The club last week submitted a $1.17 million purchase offer for the facility, which is currently owned by Muskegon Community College. The nonprofit initially did not reveal itself as the buyer because its board of directors needed to approve the agreement, which happened this week.

MUSKEGON, Mich The Muskegon Community College Board of Trustees voted unanimously at its Feb. 22 online Board Retreat to accept a $1.17 million purchase offer for the Lakeshore Fitness Center.
The offer was made by Chris A. McGuigan on behalf of a non-profit Michigan corporation that has not been named. McGuigan first announced the offer at a regularly scheduled meeting Feb. 17.

MUSKEGON, Mich. â The Muskegon Community College Board of Trustees voted unanimously at its Feb. 22 online retreat to accept a $1.17 million purchase offer for a fitness center, according to a news release Tuesday.
The deal must still be approved by the board of the nonprofit organization that made the offer.
It was first announced by Chris A. McGuigan, former executive director of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County at MCC Board of Trustees online meeting on Feb. 17.
The name of the nonprofit McGuigan made the offer on behalf of isnât being released as of Tuesday morning.
