that s facing all of the museum managers and people that are responsible for generating, producing, and collecting objects that would likely go into a museum sitting such as this is how much do we need to keep? how many things do we need to have to tell the american story and it s the great conundrum of our protection. there are those who believe that maybe the time has come to start reducing the amounts of things we collect and be more judicious in how we collect them and what we collect. is it inappropriate to use representative samples, say at an archaeological site, where things are left at the vietnam veteran s memorial. do we need to keep everything? and there are those in the professional field that think we need to keep everything and there s others who think sampling is the more judicious and long-term strategy. because there is a point of diminishing return. it costs money. there is an inherent cost to storing all of these objects. in many cases the costs can ....

monoxy battlefield, monassas battlefield, another civil war engagement, harper s ferry. famous locations around the region. piscataway park down here in ft. washington. piscataway park is a beautiful park right on the potomac river. early historic settlements as early as 1630, we have pre-historic indian sites all along this location. if you look at washington itself, you ll see an incredible amount of d.c. is green, that means it s more e administered national parks service. rock creek park is one of the largest urban parks in the united states. it s the third oldest national park service unit, i believe, so you have lots of wonderful little green spaces that are parks here in washington and the washington metropolitan area. what i think is most amusing is within our region you could put our region inside yellowstone national park about 500 times, but at the same time one of the things that makes it significant and important region is right there. we are in the nation ....
