JD(U) Manipur unit demands special assembly session to discuss crisis

IMPHAL The Janata Dal(United) Manipur unit on Saturday demanded a special state assembly session to discuss the present crisis in Manipur and make recommendations to the union government. During a press conference in Imphal, chief spokesperson and former minister Dr. Nimaichand Luwang of JD (U) state unit, said that both the BJP and its government in the state were silent on the present crisis in the state. “We demand a clear cut statement on the crisis and steps taken to resolve the crisis,” he said.  Luwang added that no union minister has so far visited the state to enquire about the problems and issues faced by the people of Manipur. On behalf of the party’s state unit, he said they expect the 10 MLAs belonging to Chin-Kuki group to consider their demand for separate administration (in the state) in the interest of all communities of the state. BJP chief Nadda welcomes five Manipur JD (U) MLAs

Our Correspondent Imphal, Sep. 4 (EMN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Jagat Prakash Nadda on Sunday accorded warm welcome to the five Janata Dal (United) MLAs of Manipur after they merged with the BJP. The five MLAs are Khumukcham Joykisan Singh of Thangmeiband constituency, Ngursanglur Sanate of Tipaimikh constituency, Md Achab Uddin of Jiribam constituency, Thangjam Arunkumar of Wankhei constituency LM Khaute of Churachandpur constituency. With the merger, Md Abdul Nasir representing Lilong constituency has become the lone JD (U) MLA in the state assembly. Our CorrespondentImphal, Sep. 3 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi on Saturday welcomed five JD(U) MLAs of Manipur after they merged with the BJP. Sharing photographs of welcoming the MLAs in a tweet on Saturday, Biren Singh wrote, “Along with State BJP President, Smt @AShardaDevi Ji, heartily welcomed the 5 JDU MLAs who got merged into BJP yesterday. This merger shows the love and trust entrusted by people in the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji and Hon’ble BJP President Shri @JPNadda Ji.” The welcome session was held at New Delhi on Saturday as Singh had left Manipur on Friday, according to people familiar with the development.
