Combined No-Hitter Leads Noles Past Georgia Southern

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A combined no-hitter and a six-run first inning led the fifth-ranked Florida State softball team (20-3) to its 20th win of the season in a 9-1 victory in five innings over Georgia Southern (10-10). Kaley Mudge led off the bottom of the first with her third triple of the year to get the Noles started. After Jahni Kerr drew a walk and stole second, Kalei Harding drove Mudge home to get the Noles on the board. Devyn Flaherty continued her successful weekend at the plate with a double to bring Kerr home to extend the lead to two. Mack Leonard added another run for the Noles with a single, and Krystina Hartley hit a triple with the bases loaded to put the Noles up 6-0 at the end of the first. After a scoreless second inning, the Noles added another run when Hartley stole second, but the throw was wild allowing Harding to score from third. Seminoles Dominate UMass and Colgate on Day One of Dugout Club Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 5 Florida State softball team (17-3) was dominant in two run-rule victories over UMass (3-8) and Colgate (6-9) on the first day of the Dugout Club Classic at JoAnne Graf Field on Friday afternoon. The Seminoles defeated UMass 8-0 in five innings in game one and capped off the day with a 9-1 victory in six innings against Colgate.

After a scoreless first inning, the Seminoles found some life in the bottom of the second inning. Devyn Flaherty laid down a perfect bunt to get on base and stole second to put her in scoring position. After Michaela Edenfield drew a walk, Hallie Wacaser continued her hot streak with a single to left field to score Flaherty. Kaley Mudge added another run with an infield single to give the Noles a 2-0 lead after the second inning.

The Noles scored again in the third thanks to an error by UMass, and Wacaser drove in her second run of the game to extend the lead to 4-0.

Noles Wrap Up Perfect Week With Wins over Lamar and Troy

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 6 Florida State softball team (15-3) continued its excellent play in the Unconquered Invitational with an 11-3 win against Lamar University (3-14) followed by a 2-1 over Troy (9-5) in the nightcap to cap off a perfect 6-0 week. Game 1 vs. Lamar It took just three pitches for the Seminoles to get on the board against the Cardinals as Kaley Mudge led off with a double then Jahin Kerr followed with another double to give the Noles the early 1-0 lead. A few pitches later Mack Leonard hit a single to center field which allowed Kerr to make it home. Leonard got a run of her own when Amaya Ross hit a triple to left field, leaving the score 3-0 at the bottom of the first. After a quiet second inning, the Cardinals punched back with two scores of their own at the top of the second inning to make the score 3-2. No. 6 Softball Sweeps Doubleheader Against Lamar and FGCU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 6 Florida State softball team (13-3) won both of their games on the second day of the Unconquered Invitational with a shutout 4-0 win against Lamar University (3-12) followed up with a 7-2 victory over Florida Gulf Coast (7-9) Friday afternoon at JoAnne Graf Field. Jahni Kerr wasted no time in her first at bat against Lamar hitting a double to left field with the bases loaded, allowing Katie Dack and Kalei Harding to score in the first inning. Michaela Edenfield put a ball in play to bring in Hallie Wacaser to give the Noles a commading 3-0 lead after the first inning. After a quiet second inning, the Seminoles scored again when Wacaser scored her second run of the game from a Devyn Flaherty single to center field.
