Of the deaths, three were killed as part of a murder-suicide, a departure from recent years. In one case, the victim, Mayra Dory, was killed by her husband, who fatally shot himself after his wife. Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal said this year in particular, the county’s violent crimes saw the complex and devastating intersection of drugs, severe mental illness and domestic violence.re needs to be some intervention there, because sometimes someone needs to go to jail when they've crossed the line in order to set them on the right path, and they should make different decisions to not put themselves in a situation like that,” Honsal said. “I would just highly encourage people to seek help.”
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a domestic violence incident likely led to the death of a 63-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman.
