Eugene looks to add camping sites for people experiencing homelessness

City officials expressed support Monday night for a plan to create more safe and lawful places for people who are experiencing homelessness and are unsheltered to sleep.  The Eugene City Council unanimously agreed to hold a public hearing April 26 on an ordinance that would direct staff to identify more safe parking and safe tent sites. Based on a presentation from staff, the city hopes to add: Two to four locations where up to 60 vehicles can park. Four to eight locations that could hold up to 40 tents.
