New figures have revealed more than $1 million has been handed back to motorists in Brisbane who managed to get out of their parking fines.
During the last 12 months, council statistics show 9354 motorists managed to successfully appeal $1,032,062 worth of infringement notices.
Reasonable doubt â where the driver has a receipt for an attempted parking payment, however did not complete all the required steps to complete the transaction â was the top reason used by drivers, with $612,781 in fines refunded.

Dexus has won council approval for its $2.1 billion transformation of Eagle Street Pier but neighbours are threatening legal action.
Under the proposed Waterfront Brisbane redevelopment, the 30-year-old Eagle Street Pier buildings will be demolished and replaced with two 49- and 43-floor office towers on prime riverside land.

Waterfront Brisbane will also expand the riverwalk at the tower bases to a six-metre wide promenade, and create new dining and retail precincts.

Brisbane City Council has reported a concerning jump in the number of assaults on local employees from members of the public.
The number of assaults has jumped by 13.5 per cent from 140 to 159 during the 2019-2020 financial year.

The countryâs biggest office landlord, ASX-listed Dexus, has won planning approval for its $2.1 billion transformation of Brisbane s Eagle Street Pier and Waterfront Place precinct into an office and leisure destination.
Waterfront Brisbane, as it will be known, is the latest in a series of big-ticket projects either to be announced or begin construction in the east coast capitals over the past two weeks, as the CBD development market stirs back into action.
The Dexus project includes two towers of 49 and 43 floors on the Eagle Street Pier site. Around 9000 square metres of riverside public open space is part of the plan, as well as expansive, shaded terraces with lush landscaping.
