Mike Yardley: Riverside treats in Brisbane (Photo / Visit Brisbane) Sat, 10 Jul 2021, 1:07PM Ditch the thermals and bask in the warmth of the Sunshine State this winter. My first stop on a recent swing through Queensland was Brisbane, lapping up the diversity of urban temptations in this most hospitable of cities. Snaking around the inner-city like a serpentine artery, Brisbane River sets the stage for the city’s photogenic credentials, inter-connecting so many distinctive pockets of goodness and underpinning Brisbane’s heart and soul. After taking my fill of South Bank’s cultural heft, I struck out on the stunning River Public Arts Trail, taking in the artworks on this 2.4km trail that meanders along the river at Kangaroo Point, starting from the Maritime Museum and ending down at the Thornton St Ferry Terminal. Amid the trove of works is a throwback to Expo ’88, the iconic sculpture, Man & Matter. Few suburbs can match Kangaroo Point for its skyline

Dismiss Save Normal text size Advertisement Lawyers for the company behind a $2.1 billion transformation of Brisbane’s Eagle Street Pier have hit back at a court appeal of its approval, citing a lack of foundation and detail to the claims. Waterfront Brisbane was given Brisbane City Council approval under a range of conditions in December, after a six-month development process that ended in a joint press conference from developers Dexus and the council. Under the proposed redevelopment, the 30-year-old Eagle Street Pier buildings would be demolished and replaced with two 49- and 43-floor office towers on prime riverside land.

Dexus sells stake in Brisbane tower above book value

Dexus sells stake in Brisbane tower above book value Save Share Dexus and Canada’s CPP Investment Board have sold Brisbane’s 10 Eagle Street office tower for $285 million, a higher-than-book value, indicating higher office asset valuations when ASX-listed Dexus reports its next earnings for the six months to June. Australia’s largest office landlord and the Canadian sovereign wealth fund acquired the 34-level Eagle Street building, which sold at a 1.8 per cent premium to its book value, in their Dexus Office Partnership, which in 2014 took over a portfolio of properties from the Commonwealth Property Office Fund. Brisbane-based and focused investment manager Marquette Properties acquired the building in a competitive on-market sales process though a single-asset syndicate of 185 family investors, mostly from Queensland and NSW. Settlement is expected next month.
