₹181 crore collected in CMPRF so far
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has ordered the use of ₹50 crore from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF) for procuring RT-PCR kits. As of Sunday, ₹181 crore had been collected in the CMPRF.
An unprecedented 1.6 lakh RT-PCR tests are conducted in a day, an official release said.
It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had already ordered that ₹25 crore be used to source Remdesivir and other life-saving drugs for the State, and another ₹25 crore for liquid oxygen for hospitals in Tamil Nadu from other States.
Earlier this month, Mr. Stalin had appealed to the people and corporates to donate generously to the CMPRF to help the State government fight the pandemic.

New Delhi, Jan 25 : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday said it has attached properties to the tune of Rs 207 crore of Disc Assets Lead India Limited, Eagles Eye Real Estates and Meadow Realtors, and the firms key managerial persons in connection with its money laundering probe.
The official said that attached properties include 1,081 immovable properties measuring around 3,850 acres of land located in Tamil Nadu s Madurai, Ramanathapuram and Chennai worth Rs 207 crore under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a case related to defrauding public in the guise of investment.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], January 25 (ANI): In a financial fraud-related case, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on Monday attached over 1000 immovable properties worth Rs 207 crore belonging to a private company under the Prevention of Money Laundering (PMLA) Act.
As per an official release, ED provisionally attached a total of 1081 immovable properties measuring around 3850 acres registered in the names of Disc Assets Lead India Limited, Eagles Eye Real Estates, Meadow Realtors, and its key managerial persons under PMLA provisions in a case related to defrauding the public in the guise of investment.
COIMBATORE: Members of non-governmental organizations Tamilnad Wildlife Organization and Nature and Animal Conservancy on Sunday collected 1,000kg garbage from the Anaikatti Road between Mangarai forest check post and Thaneerpandal near Chinna Thadagam.
The NGOs have been conducting the cleanliness drive every month. “During the drive on Anaikatti Road, which is frequented by wild elephants, we collected plastic bags, tumblers and liquor bottles. These might injure elephants and affect the environment. We collected only non-biodegradable items,” said Tamilnad Wildlife Organization chairman N Arun Kumar. “We handed over the garbage to Thadagam panchayat officials. Over 25 NGO members participated in the drive aimed at creating awareness.”
