Ghagra residents complain of air pollution, fear contracting virus | Ranchi News

Ranchi: Residents of Ghagra complained of environment pollution and said they fear contracting Covid-19 due to the round-the-clock cremation of infected corpses in the area. Corpses of the deceased Covid-19 patients are being cremated at the ghat for nearly a month now after the Ranchi Municipal Corporation owned gas-fired incinerator at Mukti Dham developed a snag and went out of order for several days.
Kaushal Kishore Mishra, a resident of the area, said, “The mass burning of bodies is causing so much pollution that we are forced to shut our doors and windows. The strong smell arising out of rituals saturates the entire atmosphere.” ....

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) students have reportedly opposed the institution s proposal to appoint Reliance Industries executive director Nita Ambani as visiting professor.
Citing it as a wrong example being set by BHU, students even protested at the university on Tuesday, March 16. A group of over 40 students staged a demonstration outside the residence of Vice-Chancellor Rakesh Bhatnagar on campus and submitted a memorandum as well, the Indian Express reported. ....

BHU s Social Sciences Faculty had recently sent a proposal to
Reliance Foundation, asking Nita Ambani to join the university as a visiting faculty at their Women Study Centre.
Her response is still awaited. A group of about 40 students, on Tuesday, protested outside the residence of Vice-Chancellor Rakesh Bhatnagar on the campus and submitted a memorandum.
Research scholar Shubham Tiwari, who was among the protesting students, said that the step would set a wrong example. ....

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) denied reports that Nita Ambani received an invitation to join Banaras Hindu University (BHU) as visiting faculty by the varsity s Women Study Centre of Social Sciences Faculty.
Reports that Nita Ambani will be a visiting lecturer at Banaras Hindu University are fake. She hasn t received an invitation,” it told ANI.
