Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], January 16 (ANI): Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda along with several Haryana Congress leaders were detained on Friday by police as they marched towards the Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh in protest against the new farm laws.
Hooda along with state party chief Kumari Selja, general secretary Randeep Surjewala and other party leaders were taken into preventive detention here by the Chandigarh Police and first taken to the Sector 3 police station.
The police released some party workers but they were again taken into custody as they tried to move towards Haryana Raj Bhawan.

Lucknow, Jan 15 : UPCC president Ajay Kumar Lallu and several Congress workers were detained on Friday as they attempted to march towards Raj Bhawan to observe Kisan Adhikar Diwas .
Lallu and his supporters were detained near his house.
The Congress had announced that it would observe Kisan Adhikar Diwas on Friday and gherao the Raj Bhawan in protest against the farm laws.
Scuffles between Congress workers and the police were reported from other places as well as party workers attempted to reach Raj Bhawan.

Congress workers and leaders of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh on Friday held a foot march and demonstrations as a part of party’s observance of a nationwide protest under ‘Kisan Adhikar Diwas’ (Farmers’ Rights Day) against the Centre’s farm laws.
Congress members, including party MLAs led by Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar, took out a protest march from the Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh, towards the Punjab Raj Bhawan. Haryana Congress leaders, including the party’s State president Kumari Selja, Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and party general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, led Congress workers’ march towards Haryana Raj Bawan in support of farmers’ demand
The ninth round of talks between farmers unions and three central ministers got underway on Friday afternoon and discussions were held on all the three laws before the lunch break.
