Waterford, Ireland / WLR Mar 12, 2021 12:01 PM The Director of Care at a Waterford city nursing home has welcomed the return of indoor visits to residents from March 22. Mary Burke, of Killure Bridge Nursing Home, said the news of the easing of restrictions on visits had brought “great excitement” to residents. Under the new rules, two visits per week are permitted in facilities where eight out of 10 residents and staff have been vaccinated. There is also a longer time limit on visits. Although health officials warned last night that the Covid-19 situation in Ireland remains “precarious”, they said the easing of the nursing home restrictions demonstrates what can arise from the rollout of vaccinations. ....
Waterford, Ireland / WLR Jan 21, 2021 9:04 AM “A ray of hope” is how Director of Nursing at Dungarvan Community Hospital Paula French described the arrival of HSE vaccination teams on site at the facility on Wednesday. The hospital cares for 102 mostly long-term residents, and also provides a short stay unit, rehab unit and dementia care unit. Approximately 200 staff were also in line to receive their inoculations yesterday. 48 staff and residents of Dunabbey House, which forms part of the hospital complex, received their shots on Saturday, so in all more than 350 staff and residents have now received the first of their two injections. ....
