Over 200 people attend virtual public information meetings on Galway to Athlone Cycleway

Galway Bay FM Newsroom – Over 200 people attended two Public information meetings on the Galway to Athlone Cycleway this week that was hosted by Senator for Roscommon-Galway Aisling Dolan.
The proposed Cycleway will eventually create a dedicated 270km route from Dublin to Galway city with both the North Green Route Number 1 and the Central Blue Route Number 3 joining to give a clear route from Galway City to Athlone.
The aim of the meetings, held through Zoom, was to inform Landowners and farmers about the general consultation process that ends on March the 1st and the project team has urged the public to view the proposed routes and to submit feedback. ....

Online public meetings to discuss some Galway to Athlone cycleway routes

Members of the public are being encouraged to make submissions in relation to the route options for the Galway to Athlone cycleway.
Senator for Roscommon-Galway, Aisling Dolan, has said she is backing two routes of the five corridor options being circulated by the Galway to Athlone project team – the green route and the blue route.
According to the Fine Gael senator, both of those routes come close to Ballinasloe and will be going through Roscommon, potentially along by the Shannon towards Shannonbridge.
Green route
The proposed green route number one, along north Co. Galway would allow cyclists to go from Athlone to Galway via Cornafulla, west of Shannonbridge; Kylemore; Lismany; Ballinasloe; Ahascragh; Caltra; Castleblakeney; Mountbellew; Monivea; Athenry; and Oranmore. ....
