In one of the cramped alleys of downtown Srinagar, the city of Kashmir, a man in his late sixties drops chisel as he sees to shake hands with this reporter.
“I am not scared of the virus,” says Ghulam Nabi Dar, 68.  His room where he does walnut woodcarving smells of wood. The wood dust covers everything:  a red coloured small radio, wooden planks, an old tin trunk in the corner and stacks of paper with imprinted designs. ....

Soon after finishing morning prayers, Suhail Ahmad, an Anantnag resident, travels to nearby districts in his car in search of mutton for his sister who recently delivered a baby.  He buys it at Rs 600, a kilogram from various butchers who work in the early morning hours.
Since November 2020, the mutton dealers and administration are at loggerheads over mutton prices. Last year, the divisional administration proposed Rs 480 for mutton per kilogram which the dealers did not agree citing that they cannot afford to sell at “such low rate,” resulting in the shutting down of mutton shops and severe mutton shortage across Kashmir. ....

10 Specially Abled Children Passed 12th, 4 With Distinction

SRINAGAR: In the Twelth class examinations, the results of which were declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), all the ten specially-abled students of Abhedananda Home have passed with flying colours.  Hailing from far-flung areas of Kashmir, four out of 10 students also got distinctions.
The 10 inmates of Abhinanda Home, who passed the 12th class examination with flying colours. The results were announced on March 8, 2021.
The excited school administration said all 10 students who passed the examination are hearing and speech impaired (deaf and mute).
Manzoor Ahmad, Principal said that presently, 100 students are enrolled in the oldest special school, established in 1941, and the only higher secondary institution for specially-abled children. “The institution has 90 hearing and speech impairment (Deaf and Mute) students enrolled and 10 visually ....

DR YASIR A RATHER (YAR): Kashmir is witnessing sudden deaths, some state heart attacks as a reason and some attribute it to unknown causes. This is very true that many deaths are occurring due to drug overdose. These deaths are not being categorised because families attribute them to heart attacks or some other illnesses. SRINAGAR: As the results of class 12 examinations were declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, the morning turned out to be mourning for the family of Mubashir Sajad Dar, 19. A resident of Nawpora, Dar passed his examinations with distinction scoring 439 out of 500.
Mubashir Sajad Dar a resident of Khanyar who died mysteriously on December 28, 2020 year when he was on a night-long outing with his friends in Pahalgam
The inconsolable mother of Mubashir rushed to his grave with sweets to hug and congratulate her son who died mysteriously on December 28, 2020 year when he was on a night-long outing with his friends in Pahalgam. He died in his hotel. ....
