KVIC's e-market portal sees rise in turnover, patronage

Khadi and Village Industries Commission’s (KVIC) online marketing portal has achieved a turnover of over Rs1.12 crore in just 8 months of the launch of the Khadi e-portal, in signs that the portal is gaining tremendous public patronage.
Launched on 7 July 2020, Khadi e-portal, www.khadiindia.gov.in, has delivered orders to over 10,000 customers out of the 65,000 people who visited the e-portal till date. KVIC has also delivered more than 1 lakh articles/commodities to these customers. The average online purchase orders during the period stood at around Rs11,000 per customer.
Khadi’s ever-growing popularity owes to the diversity of its product range that suits all segments of buyers. ....

India is all set to manufacture its first eco-friendly and non-toxic paint made from cow dung. The paint will be manufactured by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
And to make it a pan-India initiative, KVIC plans to set up paint factories in villages across the country. The commission aims to establish 500 manufacturing units within the next six months with the help of prospective entrepreneurs in various villages across the country. ....

KVIC launches cow dung-based non-toxic `Khadi Prakritik' paint

Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) on Tuesday launched an innovative new non-toxic paint, called `Khadi Prakritik Paint’ – India’s first cow dung paint.
Union minister for road transport and highways and MSME Nitin Gadkari launched the eco-friendly, non-toxic paint, a first-of-its-kind product, with anti-fungal, anti-bacterial properties, at his residence.
Based on cow dung as its main ingredient, the paint is cost-effective and odorless, and has been certified by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
Speaking at the launch function, the minister said the step is aligned with the prime minister’s vision of increasing farmers’ income. It is also part of an effort to improve the rural economy to such an extent that reverse migration begins from the cities to rural areas, he added. ....

Centre plans e-portal to sell MSME products: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

The Centre is working with State Bank of India to launch an E-portal on the lines of Amazon to facilitate Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises to sell their products, Transport & MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari said here on Wednesday.
At present, Amazon.com generates a business of around Rs.70,000 crore annually for Indian MSMEs, which can be enhanced by a dedicated E-Portal to enable them complete with global brands, he said at a webinar organised by All India Association of Industries President Vijay Kalantri.
Stating that the government aims to increase the share of MSME sector in total exports from the current 48 percent to 60 percent in the coming years, Gadkari said that this would go a long way in boosting the Atmanirbhar Bharat programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ....
