LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WKBT) – La Crescent Public Schools is holding a garage sale to get rid of old and outdated items.
Furniture, equipment, and supplies was Thursday on sale in the Elementary School Gym and High and Middle School Media Center.
Money raised will help pay for projects for the school buildings.
District leaders say thanks to construction at schools, the sale will help get rid of items they no longer need.
“It’s a good way to get rid of some old equipment that we’re not using or can’t use, or just doesn’t function for us as well. And rather than throwing it away somewhere, this has worked out well,” said La Crescent Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Cardille.

LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WKBT) La Crescent-Hokah School Board has selected Eric Martinez as its next superintendent.
Martinez will start July 1 and replace Kevin Cardille, who will retire at the end of June.
“We were pleased to work with the Minnesota School Board Association’s Superintendent Search Program, utilizing their expertise in recruitment that ultimately attracted 15 qualified candidates. Using input from staff, administration, and community members to guide our decision making, the Board interviewed five candidates and then narrowed the field to two candidates. Mr. Eric Martinez emerged as the bestfit for our district,” said Board Chair Eric Morken.

La Crescent-Hokah School District outlines back-to-school schedule

LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WKBT) The La Crescent-Hokah School District has issued a detailed back-to-school plan to take effect over the next several weeks, beginning Jan. 11-15.
The plan, which the school board approved Monday night, was formulated amid many changes and clarifications from the Minnesota Education and Health departments.
“I cannot stress enough how much directions and expectations change daily regarding COVID-19 and the change in the impact of infections,” Superintendent Kevin Cardille said in a message that also is posted on the district’s Facebook page.
The plan was created in consultation with school staff, the school board, district administrators, the school nurse, local and state public health officials, Minnesota Association of School Administrators and Minnesota School Board Association, Cardille said.
